Delete Your Acting Pal Account

1. About This Page

This page explains how to request deletion of your account and the data associated with it in Acting Pal: self tape yourself, the mobile application published by Acting Pal Ltd. Acting Pal Ltd is a company registered in England (Company No. 15944466) with a registered office at Gore Hill House, Haslingbourne Lane, Petworth, England, GU28 0JJ.

You can remove individual scripts and recordings without closing your account, or delete the account entirely. Deleting from inside the app is immediate; emailing us takes a little longer but works even if you can no longer sign in.

2. Delete Some of Your Data, Without Deleting Your Account

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove things you no longer want us to hold. Inside the app you can delete your content individually, and it is removed from our servers along with the audio generated for it:

  • Delete a script — open the script, then use the options menu and choose Delete. Its dialogue, characters and generated scene-partner audio go with it.
  • Delete individual lines — in the Practice screen, select the lines you want removed and delete them.
  • Delete a recording — open your Recordings library, choose the take and delete it.

If you would rather we removed particular data for you, email info@actingpal.com with the subject line “Delete my data” and tell us what you want removed. We action these within 30 days, and your account stays open.

3. Delete From Inside the App

This is the fastest route and does not require you to contact us. Open Acting Pal and sign in to the account you want removed, then:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select Delete Account.
  • Confirm when you are asked to.

Your account and its data are removed straight away. This cannot be undone.

4. Ask Us to Delete It For You

If you can no longer sign in, have already uninstalled the app, or would simply prefer that we handle it, email info@actingpal.com with the subject line “Delete my account”.

So that we remove the right account, please include the following:

  • The email address the account uses, or send your message from that address.
  • If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email address, tell us the name shown on your Acting Pal account and we will match it for you.

We may ask you one further question to confirm the account is yours before we delete anything, and we will email you to confirm once it is done.

5. How Long It Takes

Deleting from inside the app removes your account immediately. Requests sent by email are actioned within 30 days of us receiving them, and in most cases much sooner.

6. What Is Deleted

When your account is deleted we remove the following, and it cannot be recovered afterwards:

  • Your account and sign-in details — your email address, password credentials and any linked Google sign-in.
  • Your profile — your name and account settings.
  • Your scripts and scenes — uploaded script files, extracted dialogue, characters and voice assignments.
  • Your recordings — self-tapes and voice recordings stored in your account, together with the scene-partner audio generated for you.
  • Your practice data — rehearsal settings, page usage and progress.
  • Your messages to us — support conversations sent through the app.
  • Your device identifiers — the notification tokens used to send you push notifications.

Self-tapes that you exported or saved to your phone’s own photo gallery stay on your device. They belong to you, and deleting your account does not touch them — remove them from your device if you want them gone.

7. What Is Kept, and For How Long

  • Records of purchases, for up to 7 years. UK company and tax law requires us to keep financial records of transactions. These are retained as accounting records only and are not used to identify you as a user of the app.
  • Your subscription with Apple or Google. Your purchase is held by the App Store or Google Play rather than by us, so deleting your Acting Pal account does not cancel it and does not stop future charges.
  • Anonymised and aggregated statistics. Usage figures that can no longer be linked back to you or your device may be retained to help us understand how the app is used.
  • Short-lived backups. Deleted data can persist in encrypted system backups for up to 30 days before those backups are rotated out, after which it is gone.

8. Cancel Your Subscription First

We cannot cancel an App Store or Google Play subscription on your behalf — only you can, from your store account. Please cancel your subscription before deleting your account so that you are not charged again.

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store, cancel in your Apple ID account settings. If you subscribed through Google Play, cancel in your Google account subscription settings.
