5. How We Share Your Personal Data
We do not rent or sell your personal information. For details on how and who we share data with refer to Terms of Service.
6. International Data Transfers
Acting Pal is based in the United Kingdom, but we and many of our service providers operate in countries around the world. This means your personal information may be transferred to, or stored on, servers located in countries outside of your home country, including outside the UK, European Economic Area (EEA), or Canada. For example, data we collect may be processed by our cloud infrastructure or technology partners in the United States or other jurisdictions.
Whenever we transfer personal data internationally, we take steps to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect it, as required by applicable law. If you are located in the UK, EEA, or another region with data transfer restrictions, we will implement one or more of the following legal mechanisms for such transfers:
- Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs): We will rely on the European Commission’s and/or the UK’s approved Standard Contractual Clauses, along with any required UK addendum or International Data Transfer Agreement, when transferring personal data to countries that are not deemed to have an “adequate” level of data protection
- These are contractual commitments between us and the recipient of the data, which obligate the recipient to protect your information to GDPR-equivalent standards.
- Adequacy Decisions: In some cases, we may transfer data to a country that has been officially recognized by the UK Government or the EU Commission as providing adequate data protection. If such an “adequacy” decision exists for a country where one of our service providers is located, we may rely on that as the transfer mechanism
- Consent or Derogations: In limited situations, we might rely on your explicit consent to transfer data, or another exception provided by law (known as “derogations” under GDPR). For example, if you explicitly request a service or integration that involves sending your data to a third country, we may do so with your consent. We will only rely on these exceptions when an SCC or similar safeguard is not available or appropriate for the specific transfer.
Regardless of where your data is processed, we will protect it in line with this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
7. Data Security Measures
We recognise that your scripts, auditions, and other materials may be sensitive. For details on how we protect and secure your data refer to Terms of Service. While we employ strong security measures to protect your data, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
8. Data Retention and Deletion
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, or to satisfy applicable legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. In practice, the retention period for different types of data can vary based on its nature and the context. Scripts/ audio and self tapes are immediately deleted from our servers once processing has been completed.
9. Children’s Privacy & Age Restrictions
Protecting children’s privacy is extremely important to us. Acting Pal is not intended for use by children below the minimum age of consent for data processing in the jurisdictions we operate. We do not knowingly collect personal information from young children, and we take measures to comply with youth privacy laws such as the UK/EU GDPR provisions on children’s data and the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- Minimum Age Requirements: You must meet the minimum age requirements to use our Service. The minimum age to create an Acting Pal account is 13 years old in most regions. However, if you are in a country that is subject to GDPR (such as the UK or EU member states), the default legal age at which you can consent to data processing is 16. In those regions, if you are between 13 and 16 years old, you should only use Acting Pal with verifiable consent from your parent or guardian (note: some EU countries or the UK Data Protection Act 2018 set a lower digital consent age of 13, but as a general policy we adopt 16 as the default minimum for solo use unless proper parental consent is obtained for younger teens)
- In the United States and other countries with similar laws, the Service is not available to children under 13 years of age.
- We strictly do not allow users under 13 to create accounts or use the app in any capacity. If local law requires an older minimum age for us to collect your data without parental consent (for instance, if you are under 18 in certain jurisdictions, you may need parental consent), then you must meet that age requirement or have your parent/guardian provide consent.
- No Users Under 13: We do not knowingly solicit data from or market to children under 13 years old. The content and services provided by Acting Pal are directed towards adult and teenage users (generally those aspiring actors who are beyond young childhood). If you are under 13, do not use or attempt to register for Acting Pal. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 (or under the applicable age threshold) without proper consent, we will take immediate action to delete that information from our records.
- Parental Consent for Minors: If you are a parent or guardian and you become aware that your child under the required age has created an Acting Pal account or provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us right away at info@actingpal.com.
- Age Verification and Enforcement: We do not typically verify the age of every user at sign-up, and we rely on users to honestly represent their eligibility. However, if we have reason to suspect that a user is under the required age (for example, if we receive a report or if the information provided indicates an age below our minimum), we may take steps to investigate and verify the user’s age. If we determine that a user is under the required age, we may take appropriate action, including suspending or terminating the user’s account.
10. Your Privacy Rights
You have certain rights regarding your personal data. These rights vary depending on the laws that apply to you (often based on your place of residence), but we aim to provide all users with control over their information. You can learn more about some of the specific privacy laws that underpin these rights by consulting the authoritative sources below:
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated Privacy Policy within the app and on our website, and by updating the “Last Updated” date at the top of this Policy.
If you have any questions or comments about this Privacy Policy, or if you need to access it in an alternative format, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@actingpal.com. We are here to help and are committed to protecting your privacy.
